I do find the term ‘Contemporary’ Lace a bit of a misnomer as anything made toady is ‘contemporary’ In Lace circles is often used as a term to denote lace not made using the strictures of classic lace techniques.

Contemporary Lace using Bobbin Lace techniques

My love of lace, whatever technique is used: crochet; knitting; needle tatting; bobbin lace; macrame, needle lace, is the interplay between the threads/ fibres and the surrounding space. It is the voids that are created which are just as fascinating as the manipulation of thread/ yarn.
