When young my mother taught me to sew which is a great life skill as you will invariably need to shorten a pair of trousers at some point in you life. It also acts as a great foundation from which to develop and explore a love of textiles.
Cross stitch can be found adorning household textiles as a means of identification as well as being used as instructional pieces/ samplers. I am very fortunate that my mother embroidered a number of samplers for me as well as inheriting her collection of embroideries. These are cherished textiles which are a lasting testament of her love of textiles.
